2011
Was a year for personal growth and a lot of self reflection. A lot of postmodern bullshit, which was a lot to go through, but with the help of a few key individuals I’ve been at some of the lowest and some of the highest (quite literally) points of my life, and I’d trade the experiences for nothing, except maybe a few bricks of cocaine and dolce salato gelato. Just kidding.  I had a...

Why I don't party in Mexico. →
I don’t mean to sound preachy, but if you smoke, there’s absolutely no reason you should be buying product that goes through Mexico especially in states where it’s legalized for medical use. Buy local, it’s better quality and you can be sure it’s not laced with anything, not contributing to the billions of dollars being spent against drug trafficking, the disgusting...

codystatus: Respect goes out to the parents who came here with nothing, worked for everything, gave us everything and asked for nothing. This is a problematic-ass statement.  In case you didn’t know: The idea that meritocracy (The supposed American Dream) has been within reach, and the underlying assumption that the ideal parents in question are in fact, real is an idea that has been used...

I love that old man.
Despite his boring lectures, those 6 books I bought and hardly read, my awkward powerpoint about yerba mate, and the overall disappointment I had in learning what an uninteresting country Argentina actually is. He had his head in the right place. A- in HILA 120. Now I’m just worried about the other ones…

Scrooge is underrated.
It’s Christmas time again, and I’m sad to say that every time it rears its cheery little head at me, I find it less and less exciting, less enthralling. It’s become a chore to haul dusty ornaments and miscellaneous knick-knacks from the depths of the garage, for me to decorate a tree alone and reflect on how each handmade ornament meant something to me once. It’s like an...

My mom just walked in, gave me a thong and left.
It’s times like these when I realize we are, indeed, related.

Tame rain
Every time I come home for break, it always starts to rain. Last winter, it rained for almost 3 weeks. Last spring, it rained pretty much the whole way through. And, like clockwork, I woke up freezing under a fleece blanket. I woke up, made myself a cup of tea and looked outside at the pathetic sky as it whimpered and made everything under its watery eyes feel bad too. It’s days like these...
